Project overview: SPORTS, PEACE & DEVELOPMENT WAMARE KID LEAGUE is a sub-project of PTU-Uganda. Wamare is an Acholi word to mean "let us love". So, our mission is to love everyone, to bring peace and development in the families and community through sports, dance and drama, and carrying on income generating activities.
This kid league aims to fully engage in: sports, peace and development programs among teens and youths of different family backgrounds, religions, ethnic groups and cultures in Northern Uganda and beyond.
This is a local network of athletes, sports operators and lovers in the field of sports. Our main commitment is that of promoting a sports culture capable of contributing towards peace and universal brotherhood at all levels, amongst people, races, cultures and ethnic groups.
WAMARE KIDS' LEAGUE is one of the expressions of that spiritual and social renewal which stemmed from the experience of PTU-Uganda, a local Community Based Organization (CBO) in Pader District, Northern Uganda, in the world of sports. The reason behind the project is the growth of a "culture of giving", achieved by living the "golden rule", present in all cultures, which says: "Do to others whatsoever you like others to do to you."
Sports, peace and development are adopted by WAMARE KIDS' LEAGUE as of significant role in the integral growth of the human person and the development of the social network. This Kids' league is composed of thirty-six (36) boys and thirty-six (36) girls, making a total of seventy-two 72 sports boys and girls.
PTU is committed reviving the local community and economy of Pajule and does such by investing in income generating projects. The hope is that PTU will become a self-sustained community organization.
